Healthcare Assistant – County Wicklow

About the role

The Healthcare Assistant will support customers in County Wicklow to live safely and comfortably at home. You will provide personal care, assist with daily living tasks and promote independence while working under the guidance of a Health Care Supervisor or Branch Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personal care such as bathing, dressing, incontinence support and meal preparation.
• Follow safety protocols, including safe moving and handling procedures.
• Report any concerns, safeguarding issues or unsafe practices to the manager.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of all tasks completed for each shift.
• Ensure confidentiality and uphold dignity and respect for each customer.
• Encourage customer autonomy and engage in professional conversation throughout the shift.
• Attend scheduled training and notify the office promptly of any absences or lateness.

Required profile

• QQI Level 5 Health Care Award or equivalent.
• Completed training in Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia Care, GDPR, Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene and PPE use (HSE LAND).
• Empathy, strong teamwork, adaptability and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions, protocols and maintain professional boundaries.

• Use of healthcare equipment and devices.
• Infection prevention and control procedures.
• Proper PPE donning and doffing.
