HGV Driver – Collect Surplus Food Across Ireland

About the role

Food Surplus Management Ltd is seeking full‑time HGV Drivers based in Trim to collect surplus food from customers across Ireland. You will operate one of our fleet trucks, ensuring safe and timely transport of food items while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Drive company HGVs on planned routes to collect surplus food from retail, distribution and manufacturing sites.
• Load and unload containers, securing packaged materials for transport.
• Complete all required documentation, logs and records accurately.
• Perform basic vehicle checks, report defects and comply with road safety and regulatory requirements.
• Interact professionally with customers, representing FSM on‑site.
• Coordinate with the operations team to maintain collection schedules.

Required profile

• Valid C Class A (or equivalent) HGV licence and CPC certification.
• Proven experience driving and operating HGVs.
• Ability to safely unload and handle containers and packaged food.
• Good route planning, time‑management and record‑keeping abilities.
• Strong communication and customer‑focused attitude.
• Capability to work independently, handle early starts, variable shifts and perform basic vehicle inspections.
• Physical fitness for manual handling tasks.
• Previous experience in waste management, recycling or logistics is an advantage.
