Hospital Services Operator – Despatch

About the role

The Hospital Services Operator works within the Despatch Department of the Munster Regional Transfusion Centre, ensuring the timely selection, packaging and distribution of blood and medicinal products. The role combines operational duties, equipment maintenance and strict compliance with quality standards while providing a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Select and issue hospital orders for blood and medicinal products in a timely manner.
• Perform daily stock checks, reconciliation and preparation of deliveries for third‑party couriers.
• Maintain equipment through routine calibration, cleaning, de‑icing and decontamination.
• Label, discard and manage product recalls in line with GLP/GMP/GDP guidelines.
• Record and maintain GMP and non‑GMP documentation accurately.
• Operate all department software systems for stock and dispatch management.
• Provide security duties such as building lock‑up, alarm management and investigation.
• Participate in 24/7 shift roster, covering night shifts on a 7‑days‑on/7‑days‑off pattern.

Required profile

• Willingness to work night shifts and occasional overtime within a 24/7 operational environment.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external customers.
• Commitment to adhere to GLP, GMP and GDP quality standards.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GLP/GMP/GDP guidelines.
• Experience with stock management and inventory reconciliation.
• Basic proficiency in operating laboratory and dispatch equipment.
• Competence in using department software for stock and dispatch tracking.
