HR Generalist – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Applegreen, a leading convenience roadside retailer operating across Ireland, the UK and the US, is seeking an HR Generalist for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the Head of People Ireland, you will join the ROI People team and play a pivotal role in supporting retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legally compliant HR advice to line managers and employees throughout the employee life‑cycle.
• Partner with line management to roll out HR policies and optimise business performance.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment for senior retail positions, including hiring events and workforce planning.
• Resolve HR issues proactively to support business strategy execution.
• Design and deliver in‑house management training programmes.
• Advise on performance management and identify development needs.
• Manage reward and benefits to remain competitive in the retail market.
• Collaborate with external resources to ensure best‑practice HR processes and compliance.
• Enhance employee experience with inclusion and diversity initiatives.
• Maintain the cloud‑based HCM system SAP SuccessFactors and report on HR metrics.

Required profile

• Honours degree in HR, Business Studies or a related discipline.
• 2‑3 years of HR experience.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, coaching and communication skills.
• Solid working knowledge of employment law.
• Self‑motivated, resilient and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail.
