HR Generalist

About the role

We are looking for a proactive HR Generalist to join the Dublin Port Company’s People team. The role will support a broad range of HR activities, from day‑to‑day operations to strategic projects, helping to deliver our people strategy in a busy, union‑ised port environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR advice to employees and managers on policies, procedures and employment matters.
• Support recruitment and onboarding, including interview coordination, offer preparation and new‑starter inductions.
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HRIS data is up‑to‑date.
• Assist with employee relations matters such as investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and absence management.
• Administer employee lifecycle events including contracts, promotions and terminations.
• Monitor and report HR metrics and workforce data to aid business decisions.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies and best practices.
• Coordinate learning and development initiatives and keep training records.
• Contribute to DE&I, wellbeing and employee engagement programmes.
• Participate in policy reviews and continuous improvement of HR processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a unionised environment is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR information systems (HRIS) and reporting tools.
