Indirect Tax Accountant

About the role

Sycomp is seeking a detail‑oriented Indirect Tax Accountant to own global VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role sits at the heart of the company’s finance function, offering high autonomy while collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure accurate tax treatment and support business‑critical transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file indirect tax and statistical returns for Europe, North America, and other global jurisdictions.
• Own VAT reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of filings and related journal entries.
• Support tax compliance processes, audits, and regulatory queries.
• Partner with external advisors when required to meet compliance obligations.
• Handle ad‑hoc tax‑related requests, including US and global tax matters.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure correct tax treatment of transactions.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and help transition work from external providers to in‑house.
• Maintain strong controls and documentation to support audit readiness.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in indirect tax with strong VAT knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree and a professional qualification in tax or law.
• Hands‑on experience preparing VAT returns and reconciliations.
• Ability to work with high‑volume data across multiple systems.

Required skills

• Oracle ERP (preferred).
• Advanced Excel for data manipulation, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Salesforce (experience with reporting tools a plus).
• Tableau or similar reporting tools (nice to have).
