Junior IT Support Technician

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior IT Support Technician to join a growing IT team. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will provide first‑line assistance to users across multiple departments while gaining hands‑on experience with a variety of technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1st line support via phone, email and desk‑side visits.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues on PCs, laptops, printers and mobile devices.
• Set up new users, including account creation, device provisioning and access permissions.
• Install and configure IT equipment and standard software packages.
• Maintain support documentation and update IT support systems.
• Assist senior staff with projects, system upgrades and deployments.
• Support the desktop environment (Windows 10/11, mobile devices, printers).
• Participate in user training and provide guidance on IT systems.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT personnel when required.

Required profile

• 3rd level qualification in Information Technology (NFQ Level 6) or equivalent, or currently studying.
• Up to 1 year of relevant experience (internships, placements or academic projects).
• Strong communication, willingness to learn and a proactive attitude.
• Good organisational and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP.
• Microsoft Outlook and Office applications.
• Windows 10/11 desktop operating systems.
• Basic networking concepts (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Hardware support for PCs, laptops, printers and mobile devices.
• Familiarity with VPN, WAN, VOIP or PBX technologies (desirable).
• CompTIA A+, Network+ or Microsoft Fundamentals certifications (desirable).
