Kitchen Porter

About the role

The Talbot Hotel Cork is seeking a full‑time Kitchen Porter to support the hotel’s kitchen operations. You will help maintain a clean, hygienic environment and ensure all kitchen equipment is ready for use, contributing to the hotel’s 4‑star service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and store pots, pans, and kitchen equipment according to schedule.
• Maintain hygiene in pot‑wash, storage, larder, and waste areas.
• Empty bins, manage rubbish skips and follow deep‑cleaning routines.
• Store cleaning tools, detergents and protective clothing safely.
• Report damaged or defective equipment to the senior chef.
• Adhere to health, safety, fire and hygiene regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2005.
• Follow the hotel’s clock‑in policy, wear proper uniform and maintain personal grooming standards.
• Support energy‑efficiency initiatives and safeguard hotel assets.

Required profile

• Reliability – arrive on time and follow the company’s clocking policy.
• High personal hygiene and grooming standards; no jewellery except a wedding band.
• Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and wear protective clothing.
• Good communication with team members and willingness to uphold 4‑star customer service standards.
