Lab IT Systems Specialist

About the role

Catalyx is looking for an experienced IT professional to support and maintain laboratory computer systems on a customer site in Cork. The role operates within a GMP‑regulated environment and requires strong troubleshooting, infrastructure, and compliance expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory computers and associated software applications.
• Provide technical assistance for laboratory instruments, instrument software and connected IT systems.
• Manage server, workstation and operating system activities in GMP laboratory settings.
• Investigate and resolve system, software, connectivity and performance issues.
• Perform software installations, upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot application, infrastructure and instrument problems.
• Administer user access, account management and system security controls.
• Participate in change control, deviation investigations, CAPA and periodic reviews.
• Ensure compliance with GxP, data‑integrity and regulatory requirements, including validation documentation (IQ, OQ, PQ).
• Support audit readiness, backup, recovery, disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity activities.
• Maintain network‑connected devices, interfaces and integrations between laboratory systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in IT infrastructure, laboratory systems support, IT compliance or pharmaceutical IT.
• Familiarity with GMP‑regulated environments and computer‑system validation processes.
• Ability to work closely with Laboratory Operations, Quality, Engineering, Automation and Global IT teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on regulatory compliance.
