Laboratory Operations & Facilities Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Laboratory Operations & Facilities Engineer to support the development, commissioning, and day‑to‑day readiness of new laboratory spaces. Working closely with the Facilities, Operations & EHS Manager, you will ensure that labs meet regulatory standards and are prepared for future accreditation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain operational readiness of laboratory equipment, utilities and workspaces.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance, calibration schedules and contractor activities.
• Develop, review and control laboratory SOPs, operational procedures and maintenance records.
• Support quality management tasks such as document control, change control, risk assessments, deviations and CAPA.
• Assist with equipment qualification, validation and commissioning for new labs.
• Manage environmental monitoring programmes and laboratory utilities.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Facilities and EHS teams to keep labs inspection‑ready.
• Coordinate external suppliers and service providers for timely project delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory operations and facilities.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in a regulated laboratory, medical device, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
• Proven experience supporting laboratory operations, facilities or engineering activities.
• Strong documentation skills with experience producing controlled documents.
• Familiarity with regulated quality systems such as GMP, GLP and ISO 13485.
