About the role
The Domestic Services Department at Stracathro Hospital and Susan Carnegie Centre is seeking a Laundry Assistant to support the delivery of high‑standard cleanliness across the healthcare environment. You will work on a Thursday‑Friday roster, contributing to the safe handling and processing of linen throughout the facility.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, sort and process normal, soiled, infected and foul linen in accordance with infection‑control procedures.
- Operate laundry equipment, ensuring correct settings for different linen types.
- Maintain accurate laundry‑related paperwork and records.
- Clean and tidy clinical areas such as wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centres and GP practices.
- Adhere to health and safety, infection control and confidentiality standards.
- Perform physical tasks including walking, standing, bending, lifting and using appropriate aids for the duration of the shift.
Required profile
- Ability to work both independently (including lone working) and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Resilience to cope with unpredictable situations and pressure in a busy clinical setting.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training (online and face‑to‑face).
- Commitment to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality and observe the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.
Required skills
- Basic knowledge of health and safety and infection‑control principles.
- Familiarity with operating laundry machinery and handling contaminated textiles safely.
