Laundry Assistant

About the role

The Laundry Assistant will ensure that all laundry items for residents and the facility are cleaned, sanitized and returned promptly. Working in a nursing home environment, you will play a key part in maintaining hygiene and comfort for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and sort laundry from resident rooms and facility bins.
• Operate commercial washing machines and dryers using appropriate detergents and disinfectants.
• Follow infection control and health‑safety procedures throughout the process.
• Inspect items for stains or damage and report any issues.
• Fold, hang and organize clean laundry, then distribute it to resident rooms and storage areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the laundry area.
• Record laundry usage, supply needs and support occasional deep‑cleaning tasks.
• Respect residents’ privacy and personal belongings.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in caring for residents in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols.
• Physical capability to handle laundry loads and stand for extended periods.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial laundry equipment.
• Use of industrial detergents and disinfectants.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures.
