Lead Java Developer – 6‑Month Contract (Hybrid, Dublin)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Java Developer for a six‑month contract with a multinational professional services firm based in Dublin. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work both on‑site and remotely while providing technical leadership to a development team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of developers, overseeing day‑to‑day tasks and resource planning.
• Design and implement Java‑based solutions, ensuring code quality through peer reviews and automated testing.
• Create functional design specifications, user stories and detailed estimates for governance gates.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating requirements into technical designs.
• Plan system testing, coordinate live releases and support project managers with status reporting.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and drive permanent fixes.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with Java and related testing frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead and coach development teams in a hybrid environment.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in standards‑driven, Agile or Waterfall settings.
• Understanding of taxation or customs domains is advantageous.
