Lead Technical Architect

About the role

PFH Technology Group is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Architect for a 12‑month contract to provide hands‑on architecture leadership on a major hospital ICT programme. The role covers clinical and corporate applications, integration, data platforms and core infrastructure, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, interoperable, scalable and user‑focused.

Key responsibilities

• Translate clinical and operational requirements into high‑level and low‑level designs, architecture patterns and decision records.
• Lead design reviews across planning, construction, installation, commissioning and cut‑over phases.
• Integrate ICT spaces, risers, containment, power, cooling and security into overall build designs.
• Maintain a live architecture runway and dependency map across applications, integration, data and infrastructure workstreams.
• Shape solution designs for core clinical systems such as EHR, PAS, theatres, ED, maternity, diagnostics, laboratory, pharmacy and ancillary services.
• Plan application cut‑overs, data readiness and day‑one operational readiness by department.
• Design standards‑based integrations using HL7, FHIR, IHE profiles and DICOM.
• Define master data and identity management, including Enterprise Master Patient Index and clinical terminologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end architecture for large‑scale healthcare ICT programmes.
• Strong understanding of clinical workflows, safety, usability and efficiency objectives.
• Ability to work closely with design teams, contractors, vendors, cybersecurity and governance stakeholders.
• Familiarity with GDPR, WCAG 2.2 AA and value‑for‑money principles.
