Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Protein Structural Biology

About the role

The School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science at University College Dublin invites applications for a permanent, full‑time Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Protein Structural Biology. The successful candidate will join a vibrant teaching and research community, contributing to undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc) programmes with a primary focus on biochemistry.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching for BSc and MSc courses in biochemistry and related subjects.
• Lead and develop research projects in protein biochemistry and structural biology, using both experimental and computational approaches.
• Contribute to the establishment and scientific direction of the new cryo‑electron microscopy facility.
• Secure external research funding and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and student supervision.

Required profile

• PhD in biochemistry, structural biology, or a closely related field.
• Post‑doctoral experience with a strong publication record in protein structural studies.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding.
• Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
