About the role
The School of English, Drama and Film at University College Dublin invites applications for a five‑year fixed‑term Lecturer/Assistant Professor position in Theatre, Drama and/or Performance Studies. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contributing to research in theatre activism or performance technology.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in drama, theatre, performance studies and writing for stage and screen.
- Develop and deliver modules for the BA Drama Studies, BA Humanities, MA Theatre Practice, MA Drama and Performance Studies, and MA Writing for Stage and Screen programmes.
- Conduct research and scholarly activity, especially in theatre and activism (focus on Continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Central and South America) or performance and technology (intermedial, virtual/online performance, media technologies).
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
Required profile
- PhD or equivalent in Theatre, Drama, Performance Studies or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in theatre and activism or performance and technology, with a regional focus as described.
- Experience teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Professional practice or training in new media, playwriting, screenwriting, acting or directing is desirable.
Required skills
- Ability to design and deliver curriculum for theatre and performance courses.
- Strong research skills in the specified thematic areas.
- Proficiency with digital media tools for performance (e.g., video editing, virtual platforms).
