Maintenance Assistant (Part‑Time)

About the role

CareChoice is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join its new sub‑acute facility on Malahide Road. This part‑time position supports the smooth operation of the nursing home by handling routine repairs, garden upkeep, and compliance‑related tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily maintenance record book and complete minor repairs and paint jobs.
• Coordinate with external maintenance personnel and redirect issues beyond scope.
• Respond to emergency call‑outs and travel to other CareChoice sites when required.
• Garden care: planting, pruning, lawn mowing, and maintaining outdoor furniture.
• Upkeep of boiler house, generator, septic tank, rodent control, heating and water systems, including Legionella monitoring.
• Inspect fire equipment, conduct weekly fire drills and inductions for new staff.
• Handle waste disposal, including domestic, sharps, and clinical waste, following nursing home policies.
• Assist with mortuary duties, equipment hygiene, and ensure health‑and‑safety compliance throughout the facility.

Required profile

• Experience in general building maintenance, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work independently, follow safety procedures, and report issues promptly.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks and respond to emergencies.
