Maintenance Facilities Technician – Day Shift

About the role
The Maintenance Facilities Technician will be responsible for the day‑to‑day upkeep of critical plant utilities in a regulated eye‑health manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on, day‑shift position focused on preventive maintenance, rapid fault response, and compliance with GMP standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform planned preventive maintenance on steam generation and distribution systems, purified water systems, thermal sterilisation (ventilated autoclaves), cleanroom HVAC (ISO Class 8), compressed air systems (ISO 8573‑1 Class 2), automatic sprinkler systems, closed‑loop water circuits, potable water, ATEX equipment and IPA distribution.
- Use the PEMAC Computerised Maintenance Management System to log work, track assets and generate documentation.
- Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns promptly, ensuring minimal production impact.
- Complete GMP‑required documentation for validated systems and support statutory inspections.
- Assist Facilities Engineers in optimizing plant performance and participate in continuous‑improvement projects.
- Provide emergency standby cover on a rotational basis and support planned shutdowns, including holiday maintenance periods.
- Receive and manage deliveries of IPA and maintenance materials, and operate the site Building Management System.
Required profile
- Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g., National Craft Certificate).
- Minimum three years’ experience in facilities/utilities maintenance within an FDA‑regulated environment.
- Proven experience with steam, purified water, compressed air, HVAC, and other plant utilities.
- Ability to work safely with ATEX‑rated equipment and follow GMP documentation procedures.

- Compressed air system maintenance (ISO 8573‑1 Class 2).
- Automatic sprinkler system servicing.
- Closed‑loop chilled water and process cooling system upkeep.
- ATEX equipment handling and IPA distribution management.
