Maintenance Fitter – Mechanical Automation & Maintenance

About the role

Dawn Meats is seeking a skilled Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter to join its Engineering team at the Charleville plant in Cork. You will be responsible for keeping beef processing equipment running efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on conveyors, motor/gearbox units, packaging machinery and other processing equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules in collaboration with the maintenance team.
• Replace and repair defective components such as motors, bearings, belts and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and company policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years post‑apprenticeship experience as a Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter or mechanic.
• Proven competence in hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial automation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexible availability for overtime and on‑call duties.
• Full driving licence and good written and oral communication skills.
