Maintenance Technician – Chemical Plant

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Technician to join a leading chemical manufacturer on Little Island, Cork. The role is full‑time and on‑site, supporting the safe and reliable operation of production, filling and packaging equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all plant equipment to schedule and site standards.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults and perform safe, efficient repairs.
• Work in accordance with permit‑to‑work (PTW), lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, risk assessments and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate records, work orders, equipment logs and parts usage in the maintenance management system.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and reliability testing of new or replacement equipment.
• Monitor site utilities, identify and resolve performance issues.
• Keep the workshop clean, manage spare‑parts inventory and report low stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, food safety, GMP, COSHH and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification (City & Guilds, QQI Level 6/FETAC or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or related field; apprenticeship‑trained candidates welcome.
• Minimum two years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing or process environment; chemical or food sector experience is a plus.
• Self‑motivated, reliable, safety‑focused and able to adapt to production needs.
• Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification; MEWP licence advantageous.
