Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join a growing maintenance team at a leading food manufacturing plant in Westmeath. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, ensuring reliable plant operation across rotating day and evening shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Routine checking and monitoring of plant equipment to maintain optimum performance and contractual compliance.
• Calibrate and test equipment, alarms, and instrumentation according to CMMS guidelines and vendor recommendations.
• Execute planned mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks and record activities in the CMMS.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, performing repairs or replacements as needed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and electrical issues, applying sound engineering principles.
• Manage spare parts inventory to support plant reliability.
• Administer permit‑to‑work systems, including LOTO and hot‑work permits.
• Utilise remote monitoring tools such as the BMS to assess plant condition.
• Suggest improvements for reliability and efficiency in collaboration with the team lead.
• Plan and coordinate shutdowns with management.
• Uphold health, safety, ethical and quality standards.
• Maintain and repair electrical installations, including panel fault finding and VSD replacement.

Required profile

• Level 6 Mechanical or Electrical qualification (minimum).
• Experience in a facility maintenance environment is advantageous.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings is a plus.
• Background supporting high‑volume manufacturing operations.
