Materials Planner – Purchasing & MRP in Food Manufacturing

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Materials Planner to join a fast‑growing food manufacturing business in Dublin. The role sits within the Supply Chain team and is responsible for ensuring raw material and packaging availability, maintaining accurate inventory and supporting uninterrupted production through effective MRP planning.
Key responsibilities
- Manage MRP planning to align material availability with production schedules and forecasts.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for ingredients, packaging and indirect materials.
- Optimise inventory levels while preventing stock‑outs and production interruptions.
- Monitor stock with focus on shelf‑life, batch control and FEFO/FIFO principles.
- Collaborate with Production, Scheduling, QA, Warehouse and NPD teams.
- Liaise with suppliers on lead times, pricing, delivery schedules and performance.
- Support supplier tenders, sourcing initiatives and cost‑reduction projects.
- Maintain ERP/MRP master data including lead times, MOQ, shelf‑life and supplier details.
- Manage material shortages, supply disruptions, substitutions and contingency plans.
- Ensure traceability, compliance and food‑safety standards are upheld.
Required profile
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning or supply chain within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Infor or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Understanding of inventory management for perishable products and food‑safety standards (HACCP, BRC, ISO).
- Advanced Excel and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication, supplier management and problem‑solving skills.
