Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Team, working on a variety of water‑treatment projects across Ireland. You will play a key part in mechanical equipment selection, hydraulic system design, and drawing development while collaborating closely with senior engineers and the drawing team.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior Design Engineer and wider design team to deliver end‑to‑end projects.
• Liaise with clients from concept through to final delivery, ensuring compliance with specifications and engineering practices.
• Act as the technical point of contact, resolving issues throughout project phases.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Design Leads, and sub‑consultants at each project stage.
• Perform detailed design calculations and select appropriate equipment.
• Work with the drawing team to produce P&IDs and detailed design drawings.
• Provide guidance on equipment selection and support procurement activities.
• Manage project documentation in line with the Project Quality Plan and specific requirements.

Required profile

• Level 7/8/9 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous experience in water, pumping/piping, fluid‑handling systems or oil/gas sectors (desirable).
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks and coordinate design activities effectively.
