Mechanical Technician – Mobile Fleet Maintenance

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Mobile Fleet Maintenance Department at its Lihir operation in Papua New Guinea. You will be responsible for keeping heavy mining equipment safe, reliable and efficient through hands‑on mechanical work and preventive upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on mobile fleet equipment.
• Diagnose faults and carry out efficient repairs during breakdown events.
• Inspect, install, fault‑find, troubleshoot, repair and test mechanical systems on mining machinery.
• Report hazards, incidents and near‑misses in line with site HSE procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
• Collaborate with a diverse team and communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments.
