Mental Health Healthcare Assistant

About the role

Nua Healthcare Services, a private Irish provider of mental health, residential and supported living services for children and adults, is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join its team as healthcare assistants in the mental health sector. All necessary training and development for the role will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Support patients with mental and emotional issues under the supervision of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals.
• Help patients perform daily activities, such as eating, self-care and caring for their immediate environment.
• Observe, monitor and record patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight when directed.
• Support patients with therapy and rehabilitation programmes aimed at independent living.
• Help keep the unit running safely.
• Complete documentation, including patient records and timesheets.

Required profile

• FETAC Level 5 in Health Care or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2001 and the Mental Health Commission.
• Minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar healthcare setting desirable but not essential.
• Full clean driver's licence or working towards one desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Compliance with the Mental Health Act 2001, Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and company policies.
• Strong communication and listening skills, strong observational skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
