Network Security (WAF) Engineer

About the role

As a Network Security Engineer specializing in Web Application Firewalls, you will protect McKesson’s global technology environment. You will design, implement and optimise security controls for both cloud and on‑premises platforms, working closely with infrastructure, application and cybersecurity teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain WAF protections for internet‑facing applications, including custom policies, rate limiting, geo‑blocking and threat detection rules.
• Develop and manage network security controls such as firewall policies, network segmentation, ingress/egress controls and secure access configurations.
• Collaborate with application and engineering teams to understand architectures, traffic flows and business requirements, ensuring security controls are effective and sustainable.
• Analyse network traffic and security events to identify risks, investigate incidents and improve detection capabilities.
• Support incident response, forensic investigations, vulnerability remediation and disaster recovery planning with technical expertise.
• Document security architectures, configurations, procedures and standards while promoting best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience implementing and supporting enterprise network security technologies.
• Proven experience configuring and managing Web Application Firewall solutions for internet‑facing applications and APIs.
• Strong understanding of firewall policies, network segmentation and secure access controls.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple technical teams and communicate security concepts clearly.
