Operations Assistant

About the role

DSV is seeking an Operations Assistant to support the safe and efficient transport of cargo across Ireland. You will work on a rotating shift schedule, collaborating with drivers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth distribution operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, arrange, monitor and control all aspects of distribution planning.
• Support haulage planning on national routes and maximise vehicle fleet utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with company quality policies, statutory requirements and KPI targets.
• Perform general administrative duties such as event management, invoicing, filing, handling queries, claims and cost checking.
• Respond promptly to enquiries and escalate issues when necessary.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, drivers, suppliers and other offices.
• Prepare accurate documentation for the warehouse team to support timely loading and off‑loading of cargo.
• Produce reports and KPI dashboards as required.
• Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by management.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the logistics and transport sector.
• Customer‑focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
• Proficient in PC systems and transport operating software.
• Good understanding of drivers’ hours and transport regulations.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
• Good problem‑solving skills and solid geographical knowledge of Ireland.
