Operations Director - Logistics

About the role

Our client, a leading multinational organisation, is creating a senior Operations Director role to oversee logistics, warehousing and supply‑chain performance across multiple sites in Ireland, with future expansion into the UK. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role focuses on profitability through cost control, operational efficiency and best‑in‑class processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational performance across several facilities in Ireland and later the UK.
• Drive a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
• Optimise warehousing, logistics and supply‑chain operations to maximise efficiency and customer service.
• Own operational budgets, costs and P&L, identifying profit‑enhancing opportunities.
• Review and optimise third‑party logistics providers, freight and distribution spend.
• Implement initiatives to reduce dead stock, improve inventory management and optimise stock levels.
• Introduce and manage KPIs such as warehouse profitability, cost per order, cost per delivery, cost per pick, vehicle utilisation and inventory performance.
• Utilise ERP, WMS and Business Intelligence reporting for data‑driven decisions.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma and process‑mapping techniques to improve performance.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, BRC and IFS standards and support risk management.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading warehousing, logistics and supply‑chain operations in a multinational distribution environment.
• Proven track record of reducing costs, improving efficiency and increasing profitability.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational P&L.
• Experience managing 3PL providers and warehouse operations.
• Manufacturing background is essential.
