Operations Scheduler

About the role

As an Operations Scheduler at Panda, you will be the central hub that keeps waste collection activities running smoothly, safely and efficiently. You will coordinate daily routes, manage real‑time changes, and act as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, assign and adjust daily waste collection routes to maximise efficiency and service delivery.
• Use route‑planning and optimisation systems, taking traffic, weather and collection schedules into account.
• Create and manage collection schedules for residential and commercial customers, including special service requests.
• Communicate regularly with drivers, providing clear route instructions, customer requirements and hazard updates.
• Monitor vehicle locations via GPS, track route progress, fuel usage and compliance.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, missed pickups, accidents or adverse weather, reassigning resources as needed.
• Support compliance with waste‑management, transport and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, collections, fuel usage, maintenance activity and driver hours.
• Coordinate vehicle repairs, servicing and ensure vehicles are road‑worthy and properly equipped.

• Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment with frequent real‑time adjustments.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with drivers, customers and internal teams.
• Attention to detail to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Required skills

• Experience with route planning and optimisation systems.
• Proficiency in using GPS tracking tools and dispatch platforms.
• Familiarity with in‑cab technology and mobile applications for drivers.
