About the role
The Checkout Operator ensures the Checkout Department runs smoothly while delivering excellent customer service in a fast‑paced retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a computerised till system with barcode scanner, process payments and balance the till at day‑end.
- Weigh and price fresh produce, check age‑restricted items and handle coupons or vouchers.
- Stock shelves, check inventory and maintain a well‑presented department.
- Engage with customers, address their needs and support team meetings.
Required profile
- At least 2 years experience in a retail role (preferred).
- Strong communication and customer‑focused attitude.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational flexibility and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required skills
- Proficiency with a computerised till system and barcode scanner.
- Ability to weigh and price products accurately.
