People & Culture Director

About the role

The People & Culture Director will lead the HR function for a large, operationally complex transport organisation based in Dublin. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic workforce planning, employee relations, and organisational change in a fast‑moving, safety‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with operational, contractual and commercial goals.
• Manage the TUPE transfer of a large existing workforce, ensuring smooth employee‑relations handling from day one.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with trade unions and employee representatives, overseeing collective consultation and agreement processes.
• Oversee grievance and disciplinary procedures, guaranteeing legal compliance and consistency.
• Design and implement workforce planning, recruitment, selection and onboarding frameworks, including psychometric assessments.
• Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of training, competency and performance‑management programmes.
• Drive reward, recognition, wellness and engagement initiatives using people metrics and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with Irish employment legislation, corporate governance and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience in a large, unionised and regulated environment.
• Hands‑on experience managing TUPE transfers and complex employee‑relations issues.
• Strong business partnering skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and embed people strategies that support operational growth.
