Product Development Engineer – R&D (Busbar Trunking)

About the role

Vertiv is seeking an R&D/Product Development Engineer to lead the creation of innovative busbar trunking solutions. You will take products from concept through design, validation and launch, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new busbar trunking products and enhancements.
• Define specifications, features and ensure compliance with IEC 61439 and UL857 standards.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate performance and design concepts.
• Conduct DFMEA and support product risk assessments.
• Collaborate with suppliers for component sourcing.
• Support the New Product Development Introduction (NPDI) process and maintain engineering documentation in PLM systems.
• Manage engineering changes and organize drawings throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Product Design or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of product or mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product management, manufacturing, sales and marketing.

Required skills

• Creo or SolidWorks (3D CAD modelling).
• 2D engineering drawing creation with GD&T.
• DFMEA methodology.
• Knowledge of IEC 61439 and UL857 standards.
• Experience with PLM systems and product lifecycle management.
