Production Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the Irish Dog Foods manufacturing site in Naas, overseeing all production and maintenance activities to meet customer demand while ensuring product quality and safety. This full‑time, on‑site position reports to the Factory Manager and works closely with supervisors, quality, maintenance and supply teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and monitor daily production to maximise efficiency and labour utilisation.
• Generate and analyse production data (downtime, waste, non‑conformances) and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety, quality and legal requirements.
• Chair daily production meetings with relevant stakeholders.
• Optimise production parameters to consistently meet specifications.
• Control costs and operate within budgetary limits.
• Drive Lean and continuous‑improvement initiatives across all processes.
• Manage attendance, overtime, leave and payroll for the production team.
• Conduct employee appraisals, probation reviews and handle disciplinary matters in partnership with HR.
• Promote energy and waste conservation and pursue zero‑waste objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience leading a team in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record in team development, performance management and mechanical/numerical reasoning.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Desirable: project management experience and strong communication skills.
