Professional Support Lawyer

About the role

Matheson is seeking an experienced finance lawyer to join its Finance and Capital Markets (FCM) department as a Professional Support Lawyer. Working within the FCM Knowledge Management function, you will help shape the firm’s legal content strategy and drive innovation through AI and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the firm’s Knowledge Management function, ensuring up‑to‑date legal content.
• Monitor legislative and case‑law developments, preparing concise updates for internal teams and clients.
• Provide technical expertise, conduct research, and deliver training on legal resources.
• Update precedents, practice notes, and other knowledge materials.
• Collaborate on innovative, value‑add services and digital products for clients.
• Participate in submissions to government and regulatory bodies and support industry working groups.

Required profile

• Qualified banking and finance lawyer with experience in a leading practice.
• Strong interest in AI, digital solutions, and the use of digital platforms for legal content.
• Excellent written communication, analytical thinking, and creativity.
• Detail‑oriented drafting and research abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
