QA/QC Inspector – Steel Fabrication & Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced QA/QC Inspector to join a leading steel fabrication and manufacturing company in Wicklow. The role will oversee quality assurance and control throughout the fabrication, assembly and on‑site erection phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain QA/QC procedures and inspection plans (ITPs).
• Ensure compliance with standards such as EN 1090, ISO 9001 and relevant welding standards.
• Perform inspections on material receipt, fabrication processes, assembly, fit‑up, surface treatment/coatings and final testing.
• Coordinate and witness non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities.
• Review and approve welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications.
• Liaise with production teams, engineers and site personnel to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation including inspection reports, NCRs and QA dossiers.
• Support internal, client and third‑party audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in welding, manufacturing or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in steel fabrication, structural steel or heavy manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, EN 1090, ISO 3834 and ISO 9001.
• Experience with NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, VT).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel to sites for erection phase inspections when required.
