R&D Engineer – Busbar Trunking Product Development

About the role

Vertiv Ireland is seeking a dynamic Research & Development Engineer to drive innovation and enhancement of its busbar trunking product line. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and launching new products that meet market demands, industry standards, and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Define product specifications, features, and functionalities while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Develop product designs in line with standards such as IEC 61439 and UL 857.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent tools.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
• Follow the department’s NPDI process, complete documentation, and manage engineering change requests.
• Conduct product risk assessments using DFMEA.
• Build prototypes and support product testing.
• Maintain organized drawing libraries and respond promptly to design information requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with power distribution applications or the data‑centre industry is a plus.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent.
• 2D drafting (first‑angle and third‑angle projection) and GD&T.
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
• Knowledge of DFMEA methodology.
• Familiarity with IEC 61439 and UL 857 standards.
