R&D Senior Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking an experienced R&D Senior Engineer to lead technical project activities for product design transfer and manufacturing scale‑up. You will act as the technical liaison between R&D and commercial teams, ensuring smooth hand‑over of eye‑care devices to manufacturing sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for design transfer projects from concept through commercial launch.
• Manage on‑site technical activities including process, technology, analytics, capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Introduce and validate new equipment or complex processes while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Set and apply design transfer standards in alignment with the site Technology Transfer Lead.
• Communicate project status and needs across R&D and manufacturing stakeholders.
• Lead preparation and submission of documentation for product regulatory approval.
• Generate accurate project budget forecasts and flag variations in collaboration with finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• 5‑8 years of experience in an advanced technical role, preferably within medical device or eye‑care manufacturing.
• Strong project management and cross‑functional communication abilities.
• Proven experience delivering design transfer projects on time and within budget.
