Registrar in Obstetrics & Gynaecology – July 2026 Rotation

About the role

Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking a Registrar to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team for a July 2026 rotation. This position offers the opportunity to work in a 194‑bed teaching hospital that provides 24/7 acute services and a busy Emergency Department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care to in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Participate in on‑call duties and emergency obstetric interventions.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and handovers.
• Engage in teaching activities for junior doctors and medical students.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital policies.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years post‑internship experience.
• Active registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
• Evidence of meeting English language requirements as per HSE HR Circular 063/2020.
• Ability to provide satisfactory employment references and undergo Garda Vetting.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Familiarity with Irish healthcare regulations (desirable).
• Progress towards professional membership examinations (desirable).
