Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will enhance safety, availability, and life‑cycle performance of Newmont’s process plant assets on the Lihir operation. Using proactive reliability engineering, data‑driven analysis, and continuous improvement, you will help prevent mechanical failures and support sustainable mining practices.

Key responsibilities

• Identify equipment issues, defects, and improvement opportunities by analysing performance, process delays, costs, KPI’s and maintenance history in SAP.
• Develop and execute project plans for reliability improvement aligned with Newmont’s Defect Elimination Process.
• Design and manage maintenance strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and optimise preventive‑maintenance schedules for assets not meeting availability targets.
• Compile, analyse and distribute key asset performance indicators such as availability and utilisation.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions to determine failure causes and implement containment and corrective actions.
• Develop lifecycle cost models for critical assets and monitor equipment life‑cycle performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reliability engineering or asset management within an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from SAP and other maintenance systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead RCA sessions and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
