Research Assistant – Mass Spectrometry Support

About the role
The Department of Biology at Maynooth University is seeking a Research Assistant (Level 2) to provide technical support for its mass spectrometry facility. Working closely with internal and external users, the successful candidate will contribute to a range of research projects under the supervision of Professor Sean Doyle.
Key responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instruments.
- Assist researchers with sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis.
- Manage user bookings, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Support multiple research projects across the department.
- Maintain accurate records of instrument usage and service logs.
Required profile
- Relevant degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with analytical instrumentation.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse users.
