Resident Engineer – Bridge Construction (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Resident Engineer to join a bridge construction and rehabilitation project in the Galway/Mayo region on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. You will work on‑site as part of a supervision team, ensuring the successful delivery of the works while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, administer, monitor and inspect construction activities on site.
• Oversee works related to masonry, concrete and steel bridge structures.
• Collaborate with the site supervision team, taking initiative and responsibility for daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications and health & safety requirements.
• Support project reporting, maintain accurate records and monitor contractor progress.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate experience in a Resident Engineer role on bridge construction, repair or rehabilitation projects.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Strong IT proficiency, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Experience administering Public Works contracts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Full driving licence and a valid Safe Pass.
• Good knowledge of current health & safety regulations and best practices.
