About the role
The University College Cork Library is seeking a Scholarly Communications Librarian to lead its Open Research initiatives. This permanent, full‑time position sits within the Research Services team and offers the opportunity to shape policy and services at both institutional and national levels.
Key responsibilities
- Manage UCC’s participation in IReL Open Access agreements, monitor usage and act as liaison with IReL, publishers and authors.
- Lead the development and integration of the CORA institutional repository with the Pure research information system.
- Advise researchers on open‑access publishing, copyright, funder compliance and APC reporting.
- Support the institutional Research Impact Group and produce Open Access and APC reports.
- Develop bibliometric and research‑impact services aligned with responsible metrics such as DORA.
- Promote Open Research through advocacy, training and outreach.
- Line‑manage two Senior Library Assistants.
Required profile
- Level 9 qualification in Librarianship and Information Studies or equivalent, or significant progress towards it.
- Strong understanding of scholarly communications, Open Access, repositories, copyright and research data management.
- Experience engaging with academic stakeholders and delivering tailored support.
- Proven experience in staff management.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including training and presentation delivery.
Required skills
- Familiarity with institutional repositories (CORA) and research information systems (Pure).
- Knowledge of metadata standards and persistent identifiers.
- Experience with bibliometric analysis and responsible metrics.
- Ability to monitor and report on Open Access usage and APCs.
