Senior 3D Piping Design Engineer – Biopharma

About the role

We are seeking a Senior 3D Piping Design Engineer to join the on‑site Projects team of a leading biopharmaceutical company in West Cork. You will support multidisciplinary capital projects from concept through construction, delivering high‑quality 2D and 3D piping designs in a GMP environment.

Key responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D piping layouts and designs from concept to construction issue.
• Develop and maintain 3D models of piping systems and supports using industry‑standard CAD software.
• Generate General Arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, and pipe‑support details.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams and review vendor equipment information.
• Validate design deliverables for quality, compliance, and GMP requirements.
• Liaise with laser‑scanning contractors to integrate as‑built data.
• Conduct site surveys, gather measurements, and lead 3D model review meetings.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• At least 10 years of piping layout, design, and pipe‑support experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharma sector.
• Minimum 5 years using 3D CAD software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks Simulate) and 5 years using AutoCAD 2D.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and GMP standards.
• Experience with equipment layout, multidisciplinary project teams, and pipe‑stress analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
