Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Institute of Eye Surgery in Waterford. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own a wide range of financial activities, support system improvements and help build robust reporting for a multi‑site healthcare organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and present monthly management accounts.
• Complete and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage the Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation.
• Oversee stock accounting processes.
• Support sales accounting in collaboration with the finance team.
• Lead year‑end processes, audit preparation and respond to auditor queries.
• Conduct regular nominal ledger reviews.
• Assist Credit Control with relevant processes.
• Manage performance calculations and reporting.
• Provide day‑to‑day financial support to the Head of Finance.
• Work with clinic teams to improve financial processes and controls.
• Lead or contribute to finance projects and improvement initiatives.
• Support development of financial systems, reporting tools and workflows.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (practice or industry).
• Proven experience preparing management accounts.
• Strong proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in SMEs, healthcare, multi‑site or rapid‑growth environments is desirable.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience using Power BI for financial analysis/reporting is a plus.
