Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team focused on advanced digital finance and blockchain-powered technologies. The role is remote‑first and involves building and maintaining high‑performance backend systems that serve users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for financial platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
• Improve existing Node.js services for reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Implement new integrations with distributed services and micro‑service architectures using RPC calls.
• Write and optimise complex queries for relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions, and user data.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience with JavaScript and Node.js backend development.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design.
• Experience building large‑scale platforms or applications.
• Proficiency with both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of backend security concepts and secure API development.
