Senior Civil & Marine Engineer

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead complex civil, marine, infrastructure and conservation projects in Mayo. You will oversee site engineering activities, manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities
- Direct day‑to‑day engineering operations across civil and construction projects.
- Manage site engineering teams to meet design specifications, programme requirements and quality standards.
- Review technical drawings, specifications and documentation for accurate on‑site implementation.
- Lead setting‑out activities and supervise construction works for compliance with project requirements.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges to minimise delays.
- Maintain detailed site records, engineering reports and as‑built documentation.
- Support project planning, scheduling and work sequencing to maximise efficiency.
- Coordinate labour, materials, plant, subcontractors and suppliers for smooth delivery.
- Monitor progress, report risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, environmental requirements and industry standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through inspections, risk assessments and health‑safety procedures.
- Implement and monitor quality control processes across all activities.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and stakeholders to maintain effective communication.
- Assist with cost control, budget monitoring and identification of efficiencies.
- Support variation management and change control throughout project delivery.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience delivering complex civil, marine and infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to oversee site engineering activities and manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget and to high quality standards.
- Experience in stakeholder management, health & safety compliance and engineering problem‑solving.
- Demonstrated capability to mentor junior engineers and maintain client/contractor relationships.
