Senior Engineer

About the role

Cunningham Contracts is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support the Site Manager on construction projects in Dublin. The role involves leading engineering activities, coordinating with subcontractors and ensuring projects meet specifications, budgets and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Site Manager in leading construction of the allocated project.
• Build strong working relationships with the engineering team and subcontractors.
• Ensure project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets and timescales.
• Liaise with clients, Quantity Surveyors, the Project Manager and other professional staff.
• Oversee setting‑out works, dimensional control and calibration of equipment.
• Supervise subcontractors and coordinate utility providers.
• Prepare site reports and manage health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Implement test and inspection plans for all works on site.

Required profile

• Higher‑level qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 5–10 years of site engineering experience on large‑scale construction projects.
• Proven track record delivering projects within budget and schedule.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Irish and UK construction standards.
• Setting‑out and dimensional control techniques.
• Experience with drainage, concrete, piling and brickwork works.
• Ability to read and interpret technical designs and drawings.
• Strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving ability.
