Senior IT Systems Administrator

About the role

Our client, a thriving IT services provider based in Cork, is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to design, implement and maintain IT infrastructure for a diverse portfolio of business clients. The role blends hands‑on technical work with project leadership and high‑level customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain client IT environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 tenants.
• Configure and manage virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V.
• Implement, monitor and optimise Microsoft Azure environments and hybrid cloud solutions.
• Configure backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Manage networking hardware – firewalls, switches, wireless, VPNs – and ensure security and performance.
• Monitor system performance, capacity planning and respond to security incidents.
• Lead infrastructure implementation and cloud migration projects.
• Provide exceptional end‑user support and clear communication to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration or senior infrastructure roles.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client environments simultaneously.
• Strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and project delivery skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service and the ability to work independently or within a team.
• Full clean driver’s licence.
