Senior Java Software Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior Java software engineer to design and develop its In Control for Commercial payments platform. The role involves delivering world‑class, globally‑scaled solutions in a fast‑moving, agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a distributed commercial payments platform using Java.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and senior management to define business requirements and prioritize development tasks.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to architectural discussions.
• Ensure alignment of the platform with the broader product suite across multiple teams.
• Debug server‑side API calls and help design best‑practice RESTful APIs.

Required profile

• Strong or expert‑level experience in Java development and architecture.
• Proven track record building global‑scale solutions.
• Hands‑on experience in agile development, participating in retrospectives and elaboration sessions.
• Ability to work with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into technical tasks.
