Senior Label Designer – Medical Devices

About the role

The Senior Label Designer will create and maintain compliant labels for medical devices used by hospitals and healthcare staff worldwide. Working with minimal supervision, you will partner with product experts to gather content, design functional label formats, and ensure regulatory adherence across global markets.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Safety Engineering, Packaging, Clinical Sciences, Marketing and Trade Compliance to define label requirements.
• Design label formats that are usable by healthcare staff and generate templates using specialized labeling software.
• Enter label data, text and graphics into a print‑on‑demand label database and produce desktop‑published files for external suppliers.
• Verify barcode accuracy, select appropriate label materials, and support international translation strategies.
• Manage multiple concurrent labeling projects, including new products, mergers, acquisitions and label maintenance.
• Review and approve labels for completeness, coordinate with external suppliers, and control releases through the PLM/CMS system.
• Provide regulatory documentation reviews, assist with audits and submit required reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work under minimal supervision and meet project milestones.
• Interest in language translation and its impact on label design.

Required skills

• Proficiency with specialized labeling software.
• Desktop publishing software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator).
• Experience using PLM/CMS systems for label version control.
• Barcode verification and label material selection.
• Knowledge of FDA and EU medical device labeling regulations.
